My favorite summer nights aren't necessarily when me, my friends & my co-workers are recreating Margaritaville by the lake. My favorite nights are with but a few friends, a deck of cards and a Weber Grill. Perhaps, a Margarita or two. Perhaps.
The lighting is always key. We want to make sure we can see the cards. Or the chess board.
We're not sure why we'd want to recreate Olde Brooklyn into our nights, but we know others might like the ambiance. We took a look.
Below is what we found .
Olde Brooklyn is a name given to a vintage-styled lantern that can be used either indoors or outdoors. And since the lanterns are lit with LED lights, they're not subjected to the same issues one would have with actual kerosene lanterns. The marketers also claim that the lantern stays cool to the touch - though, we're waiting to see if someone's willing to leave the lantern on for 100,000 hours to test the claim. Either way, it should make playing cards and chess easier at night.
According to oldebrooklynlantern.com, Olde Brooklyn Lantern claims the following features and benefits:
- perfect for patio, dining, mantle, bedroom, tent...
- great for when the power goes out
- durable metal construction
- ultra bright LED bulbs
- built-in dimmer switch
Order Process: We'll I'll be damned. This is the first time in forever I've seen TELEBrands add a multi-step checkout to a product site. Typically, they do one step checkout with the credit card on the page. For this one, they let you put in your information and confirm the order quantity before you purchase. Then the special offer appears on the upsell page. If you like it, hit the big graphical button. If not, hit the itty bitty text link next to it that says, "No, thanks." So far we haven't seen any issues. We don't expect it to change.
Product Performance: The product is new and right now there isn't much going on in the way of marketing fluff reviews. They're coming out slowly. The watchdogs have been quiet too. Too quiet. It's sort of pissing me off to be honest. But so far, no one has had the lantern 100,000 hours to test the durability claims. When we start seeing or hearing more we'll pass the info along.
We went looking again and found a few timeless complaints. Timeless as in, "every time an As Seen on TV offer goes with a 2 for 1 deal, someone always thinks the price applies to both ." Couple that with a, "I didn't know the shipping & handling to be a bit high." If we didn't know better we'd say that TELEBrands has their own personal Anonymous hacker army that shells out the complaints the moment they launch a new product. Just make sure you do the math when ordering.
Good question. Damn, always with the tough ones. We expect the Olde Brooklyn Lantern to fall short of the 100,000 hours of light. Then again, batteries don't come with the lantern so if you purchase some incredible D batteries, you might hit the mark. But we expect people to have some fun with it. And it will probably hold up to some of the outdoor experiences since it is made of, " Genuine Metal ."
As to why it is Olde Brooklyn and not something more distinguished and vintage like Old London or Old England, Or even like the Paul Revere Lanterns, we don't know . They look more like ships lanterns or kerosene lanterns, but we're not the marketing department for a billion dollar company so we'll leave it to the folks in New Jersey.

Before I'd ever use a product like Dr. Ho's Back Belt, I would consult my chiropractor - who I haven't seen in awhile. What we found is that most people wouldn't take such an approach...
I would swear that the NutriBullet is just a Magic Bullet with a different plastic skin and fonts & iconography. I assume that if I want to make veggie smoothies I could just use a Magic Bullet, but apparently I can't. Or something like that. I'm still looking.
This is one of those times where my grandfather bought something he wanted to see on TV and it was a great idea. I went into the garage and click the switch when I realized the light-bulb didn't look like an ordinary light-bulb.
With so many acne products out and about, on television, on the shelves, at the impulse counter, next to the Redbox and vending machines...It's enough to make one wonder as to why the competition is so fierce. Is it because no single product works well enough? Or is it because people have a hard time telling which product works for them. Maybe Neutrogena is onto something with the SkinID.
Awesome Auger - Was It PitchMen's Billy Mays that Made it Awesome? Or was it Awesome Auger inventor Tommie Matasko and his inspiring story that lead to the Auger's invention? Please visit the As Seen on TV Life Summary Review and find out.
Before Vince came out with his copycat ShamWOW and his Time/Life operator headphones, there was a super-absorbent cloth that took care of the chills and spills your clumsy day created. And all you needed to know was that Billy Mays thought it was awesome.
