MagicJack started off 2013 winning Frost & SUllivan's 2013 North American Consumers' Choice Award for Overall Best VoIP Service Provider . It was also named 2012 Product of the Year! A promising start for the product that started as an infomercial product. It's receiving glittering reviews from The Boston Globe, MSNBC, PC Magazine. Techies approve because it sticks it to telecom companies who still charges outrageous prices for antiquated communications. And, you don't have to use a computer or, more importantly, Skype to chat. But is all that glitters gold? Let's take a look .
Imagine Vonage, but over the landline and for cheaper overall prices than traditional long-distance and international calling. Plug Magic Jack into the system and it goes to town. The Magic Jack Plus is a step up from the original because the original required a computer to stay on. The makers were listening to the complaints and came up with a pretty snazzy alternative. The awards would dictate it.
According to www.magicjack.com, Magic Jack Plus claims the following features and benefits:
- no computer required
- transfer your current number
- local and long distance calls
- 30 day free trial
- free international calls
Order Process: We found a couple complaints, but we only say that to show that we aren't completely, head-over-heels, walking-to-the-chapel, hand-in-hand in love with Magic Jack Plus. Those complaints didn't seem to have much traction or support which would imply those are rare cases. We'd buy from the site without much worry despite it's multiple step checkout and delayed disclosure of prices.
Product Performance: Complaints and Fraud were somewhat low given the sales volume Magic Jack Plus produces, but they were higher than we like to see. It looks like not every phone company works with MagicJack. We read a case of a user in Minnesota who said she was told to purchase international calling to use it - thus defeating the purpose of the device. Also, they're not very quick on the draw so prepare to be proactive in dealing with them. Don't expect them to do the leg work.
They'll try to talk you out of it - we'd guess they have call scripts for such a situation - but persist in asking them. If it your company allows it, then the only real way to go cheaper is to use social media and it's only more effective if you already have a cell phone. We're impressed. We don't say that lightly.
For instructions on how to set it up, and for those wondering how difficult it is, check out the video below.
For starters, who the Hell still pays for a second home line? Especially with those cellphoney things still floating about. But for those who don't want to pay that much for Cell Phones, or who can't, or who doesn't want to could find value in Magic Jack Plus. Personally, I use Facebook Chat, Google Hangouts my business partner still uses Skype, and my grandfather calls me so it's hard to find a use. But everybody's needs are different. If you your circle isn't as much into social media, then Magic Jack Plus could be a nice alternative to paying all those damned long distance cell phone charges. Before I'd ever use a product like Dr. Ho's Back Belt, I would consult my chiropractor - who I haven't seen in awhile. What we found is that most people wouldn't take such an approach...
I would swear that the NutriBullet is just a Magic Bullet with a different plastic skin and fonts & iconography. I assume that if I want to make veggie smoothies I could just use a Magic Bullet, but apparently I can't. Or something like that. I'm still looking.
This is one of those times where my grandfather bought something he wanted to see on TV and it was a great idea. I went into the garage and click the switch when I realized the light-bulb didn't look like an ordinary light-bulb.
With so many acne products out and about, on television, on the shelves, at the impulse counter, next to the Redbox and vending machines...It's enough to make one wonder as to why the competition is so fierce. Is it because no single product works well enough? Or is it because people have a hard time telling which product works for them. Maybe Neutrogena is onto something with the SkinID.
Awesome Auger - Was It PitchMen's Billy Mays that Made it Awesome? Or was it Awesome Auger inventor Tommie Matasko and his inspiring story that lead to the Auger's invention? Please visit the As Seen on TV Life Summary Review and find out.
Before Vince came out with his copycat ShamWOW and his Time/Life operator headphones, there was a super-absorbent cloth that took care of the chills and spills your clumsy day created. And all you needed to know was that Billy Mays thought it was awesome.
