It’s been fun to see Robostir continue on even after PitchMen! has come and gone. We’ve heard great things, we’ve heard complaints (mostly about the order process). But as we look back on the Robostir, we
Claims – How Does RoboStir Work?
Before, we described it as, “a three-legged barstool that has a torque-generating motor that spins the legs around in a frying pan.” We’re going to hold true to the statement. What we didn’t expect to find was it appearing in local stores, embraced by its users. The roomba-like algorithmic movement means the randomness works to everyone’s advantage.
According to the official product site, RoboStir.com, the RoboStir claims to do the following:
- Quick and Easy
- Stirs Every Inch
- Silicone Feet specially designed for the tool
- 100% Water Resistant
- Withstands Temperatures Up to 572° F
RoboStir on Discovery Channel’s “PitchMen.”
RoboStir first aired on PitchMen, Season 2, Episode 5: “From the Jaws of Victory.” So the story goes, Robo Stir inventor Gavin Ray got plumb lucky when he sent his invention into Sullivan Productions. Sully’s team took a look while scouring through their warehouse filled with mailed-in inventor products. As a staffer said on the show, “It’s just like Christmas but everything sucks…”
Luckily for Ray and his design team, Sully thought otherwise.
Sully flew in Ray to talk about the product and test it out. At one point Sully had Ray redesign the product to make it taller – request per the kitchen staff at the Tampa Bay Buca di Beppo’s – but it looks like they went back to the original height (probably because of its improved torque). It looks like to make up for it they made it waterproof! Anyway, the initial tests went through the roof and now we’re reviewing it.
Review – RoboStir Complaints, Frauds, Rip-Offs, Scams…
The few complaints we found were typical order-related: not adding up the S&H. One we found also complained about the upgrade. If you going to do the upgrade and are concerned about the price, make sure you have a running tab in your head. If you’re not paying attention to all the charges and taxes, this little $10 offer becomes $50 or more in a hurry.
Those complaints spread out onto the typical complaint sites so make sure you’re paying attention!
QVC has a nice thread going where people are speculating about the product.
We still hold concerns regarding the 4-hour battery life of the RoboStir. We’d plan for rechargable batteries.
