I’m starting to wonder if we’re running out of products to improve. We can make garlic dicing easier, keep cereal from coming out of the bowl, whip & puree most anything edible, and now we’re going after eggs. Hard boiled eggs. We’re removing the morning pleasure of peeling hard boiled eggs and making it easier to get them to your plate in the AM – 12 at a time.

But, with the Eggies system, is it more trouble than it’s worth?

This might be one for the readers to decide…

Benefits, Claims & Features – Eggies System

According to GetEggiestv.com, the Eggies System claims the following benefits and features:

  • Makes hard-boiled eggs without peeling shells
  • Perfect for working people, stay-at-home moms, babysitters and grandparents
  • 12 Eggies & 2 Egg Slicers in one purchase

But, damnit, let’s figure out if boils the eggs better than traditional hot water methods.

Eggies System Complaints, Frauds, Rip-Offs, Scams…

Order Process: At the time of this offer, Eggies is relatively new to the market. But so far, so good. The order process has been smooth.
Product Performance: We’re still looking, but so far we haven’t looked, researched, read or smelled anything that said the product doesn’t work. As one reader once told us, “isn’t that like saying “elephant repellent” argument,” and, “yeah,” so far it is. But we’ll keep looking, and our readers are good at telling us. Check our Aluma Wallet page. They come flying to the page to let us know otherwise.

And When You’re Searching…

You’ll come across some branding issue when researching “Eggies.” There’s a band called Soft-Boiled Eggies that has some surreal art music to their method and if you hit mommy blogger sites looking for, “Eggies,” you’ll find something more OBGYN than what you’re looking for.

UPDATE 2011/10/21: The complaints have since come to form. We figured we’d see them once we saw all the reader reactions. It made for some really interesting reading. If we think about it we’ll post them again soon.

They’re more about the order process than the product performance. Make sure you’re paying attention and not quick-ordering.

Where to Buy Eggies System

Are Eggies Boiling in Brilliance or Just Hot Water?

What do you guys think?

Had I any idea how labor intensive this “System” is, I NEVER would have even tried it.
I’d rather have all the eggshells stick to my hardboiled eggs as to
try to make this work and then have to clean all these little beasts.
One time use was more than enough for me.

This product sucks!!!!  The eggs leak out of the eggies during the boiling process and one of the eggs even came out of the container, as it completely separated (even though I ensured that it was properly closed).  I tried again several times with the same crappy result.  Can’t believe that boiling an egg with eggies takes 11 steps!!!  Ridiculous!!!!  Worst product ever!!!!

EGGIES:  THE SECRET TO THEIR SUCCESS…

    First time; every time!

I’m going to be so bold as to say:  If you didn’t have good results using
your Eggies  you just didn’t get
it right.  So dig them out of your
going-to-Good-Will box, or the trash, or the back of your cupboard because I’m
going to tell you how to fall in love with them.  Here goes…

    1)     Dismantled, wash them in
    warm soapy water.  Dry them.

    2)     While dismantled put all
pieces except “collar” in the sink (bottom half and top half up and underside
of lid up) and spray insides with vegetible or light olive oil.  Rub in with fingers and set overnight.

    3)
Rub oil around again with fingers and assemble.  Settle top half securely in collar
and place bottom half on top (up-side-down) screw into bottom half.  First screw counter-clockwise until
threads “click” then screw clock-wise until tight.  Make sure you didn’t cross thread and connection is even or
it will leak.  When you tighten the
top and collar to the bottom and it “slips” thread to loose it may not have a
good seal and may leak so tighten to tightest spot before it slips.

If you find one has leaked
during cooking you may not be able to identify the culprit so mark an Eggie if
you have your doubts as to it’s sealing well.   I put a plastic twist tie on the top loop.  Another way to know if an Eggie doesn’t
have a good seal is finding water inside after it’s cooked.

    4)     Crack egg into a small
measuring cup with a pour spout then pour into Eggie.  (I used jumbo eggs and they came just up to the top of the
    collar.)  Another advantage in this
method is to catch any shell pieces.

    5)
Screw little top on, again backwards first, “click”, then tighten being
    careful not to cross thread.

    6)
PLACE EGGIES IN WARM WATER –NOT
HOT!!!  This is where many of
you are getting in trouble.  Bring
water to full boil then reduce to gentle boil.  With experience, you’ll find the right time for making your
eggs the way you like them best.

    7)
I suggest putting on a rubber glove or some protection while you
    unscrew the collar.  (Waiting just
allows your eggs to get cold.)  If
you followed the above oiling routine, the eggs will simply pop right out with
    gentle squeezing of the cup.

    8)
I cooked up all six Eggies and two of the egg’s yolks were pierced once
with a toothpick.  It didn’t make
    any difference.

    9)
    Clean-up was a snap.  Hot
soapy water, dry them and put ‘em away ‘til next time.                     Enjoy!
