What, Billy Blanks? Wasn’t selling 100 million Tae Bo videos enough? Has the rise of Zumba and P90X ticked you off? If I was Billy Blanks, I would be peacefully wasting away again in Margaritaville, but not Billy. Oh, no. With his newest level of Tae Bo: PT 24/7, the king of fitness has returned.
PT 24/7 Claims – What Makes It Different from the Original Tae Bo?
Tae Bo has been around since the 1980s (source: livestrong.com). Yeah, pre-Tony Little. With PT 24/7, Billy Blanks is putting a 21st century face on Tae bo. He has cranked up the workouts (though you can still go at your own pace so don’t worry), thrown in some updates, worked on zoning and targeting specific areas of the body and has created a schedule to give people a template by which they can schedule their workouts around.
The list of DVDs are as follows:
- Basics
- Cardio
- Cardio Burn
- Ripped Core
- Boot Camp Power
- Combo Sculpt
- Body Blast
Each video is 30 minutes long so you can schedule them in. Think of it like this: in one 30-minute block of your day would you rather 1) watch a re-run of a half-hour sitcom or 2) get in shape with the help of PT 24/7. Now, if you choose #1, remember that was part of the reason you’ve been thinking about #2 in the first place.
The other update to the Tae Bo work is a simple yet brilliant innovation: Cardio Bands & Gloves.
Instead of giving jump rope-looking bands, Billy has included stirrups (for lack of a better description) and gloves to protect your hands. The result? Increased resistance for every workout. The bands and gloves are included in the purchase price.
Review – Billy Blanks PT 24/7 Complaints, Reviews, Rip-Offs, Scams, Frauds…
So far, all’s quiet on the western front regarding PT 24/7. Nothing glaring sticks out. Granted, at the time of this writing the product is still coming out, but customer service gripes and the like usually come out quickly. Too bad nobody ever goes on PissedConsumer.com and goes, “Wow, this customer service was absolutely f*****’ great!” That would be fun to report.
Our only wiseass complaint has to do with the name. Is it really supposed to mean “Part Time/Tae Bo, 24/7?” Heh? Commiting to it part time, all the time. I’ve had relationships like that. I say, “had.”
The reviews have been glowing. The great thing with Billy Blank’s Tae Bo is the community that has built up around this fitness. When you go reading, people are supportive, suggest videos for new comers and seem to genuinely care about the product. It’s a rare, blessed, beautify thing to witness.
Interesting question, but let’s use an archaic analogy: music albums. Would you through out your old Lady Gaga album when her next one comes out? Nope, you would probably keep and listen to them both. That’s like these videos…it’s a new work of art.
PT 24/7 vs P90x vs. Zumba
And they’re kind of fun to watch. If you’ve ever paid attention to the big workout videos out there, then you would have seen that a few years ago it looked like people were taking liberally from the Tae Bo workouts. Even Zumba and P90X. Now with the new videos it looks like PT 24/7 is incorporating some of the other workout moves. The big three videos look like they’re competing against each other. Who wins? The fans!
UPDATED 2011/10/21: The complaints we got on the website were worthwhile, overall. Some weren’t completely happy with the price point, but it’s Billy Blanks’ guidance they seek. We’ll post the comments again before too long.
