The American Buffalo Coin (also known as the Buffalo Gold Coin) first hit the market June 22, 2006. Emulating the design of the 1913 Buffalo Head Nickel, the American Buffalo coin was given a face value of $50. An original edition proof of the Buffalo Gold Coin in mint condition values today for ~ $1,510 (2011. Source - Wikipedia ).
The 2015 $50 Gold Buffalo Coin Tribute Proof, unless something unforeseen happens, will not value ~ $1,500 in today's dollar. As the title states and as the Jack Black-led band Tenacious D once wrote:
"This is just a tribute! You gotta believe it!"
I used to date this girl who loved the art museum. We'd go look at all the classics and try to discern just what the Hell made Modern Art, "Modern Art," besides budget constraints. Anyway, there was one particular painting I fell in love with. I didn't have $12 million dollars to purchase it. And if I did I don't believe the museum would have sold it to me. But what I was able to do instead was head to the gift shop and buy a poster of the painting. From this I was able to have a framed tribute of the painting at my place.
That's the value of the $50 Gold Buffalo Coin Tribute Proof (official affiliate link). Most of use don't have $1,500 to spend on a $50 gold coin proof, but we like the way it looks and feel - it's a tactile thing. The tribute coin is gold-layered with 14mg of gold my poster was only a 4 color print and is similar in look and texture. Just don't try to tip a waitress with it!
The good news is that there doesn't seem to be issues with the ordering process, despite the different reduced rates in shipping per proofs. There is writing out there about the marketing of the product. Some people feel that it toes the line of deceptive advertising . I can see what they're saying, especially about the part of "because of Gold rising in value," could be interpreted as to say that the rising cost of gold could hinder the cost of the product at current market prices as if the gold provides the value. To be honest, we don't know how much the gold used in the coins cost or how much an increase in the price of gold would affect the cost of coin production. To be honest, we don't even know if the price of the gold used in production is in any way related to the market price of Gold. But we get what you're saying. We do. :-)
...The National Collectors Mint makes it sound official but they do come out and say the coin is a "tribute" and a "replica" of the original American Buffalo coin. They even put, "Tribute," in the title instead of "Official."
We took another scan of the Blogosphere and see the stories are the same. We didn't see any issues with order supply or anything that's been different in the coin's 7 year run. Have fun with the tribute. Enjoy the souvenir. And if you can afford the real thing, please, for the love of God, send us a picture.
So long as you have fun with the $50 Gold Buffalo Coin Tribute Proof you'll be okay. If you're thinking you're investing in a coin, well you might consider investing in a different, pure commodity.

Before I'd ever use a product like Dr. Ho's Back Belt, I would consult my chiropractor - who I haven't seen in awhile. What we found is that most people wouldn't take such an approach...
I would swear that the NutriBullet is just a Magic Bullet with a different plastic skin and fonts & iconography. I assume that if I want to make veggie smoothies I could just use a Magic Bullet, but apparently I can't. Or something like that. I'm still looking.
This is one of those times where my grandfather bought something he wanted to see on TV and it was a great idea. I went into the garage and click the switch when I realized the light-bulb didn't look like an ordinary light-bulb.
With so many acne products out and about, on television, on the shelves, at the impulse counter, next to the Redbox and vending machines...It's enough to make one wonder as to why the competition is so fierce. Is it because no single product works well enough? Or is it because people have a hard time telling which product works for them. Maybe Neutrogena is onto something with the SkinID.
Awesome Auger - Was It PitchMen's Billy Mays that Made it Awesome? Or was it Awesome Auger inventor Tommie Matasko and his inspiring story that lead to the Auger's invention? Please visit the As Seen on TV Life Summary Review and find out.
Before Vince came out with his copycat ShamWOW and his Time/Life operator headphones, there was a super-absorbent cloth that took care of the chills and spills your clumsy day created. And all you needed to know was that Billy Mays thought it was awesome.
